The Lycian Way - Day 3 - Sep 29

Faralya to Ovacik

Our third day we departed early from Faralya in hopes of beating the sun during the initial climb out of the valley. The third section of our hike was to be longer than the first two, if not as steep. We were quite sore, however, and the going was slow. No matter; the views more than made up for sore muscles.
Above, looking up towards a section of Bada Dag (Mt. Baba). Below, the Mountain in the mist.
A view back down the valley

Small village at the base of Baba's cliffs
We teamed up with fellow hikers we met in Kabak. Iraffe and Sarah are Ozzies working or studying in Britain, and together I think our group was stronger. That's a lot of weight to carry and friends help distract attention and encourage onward (did someone mention ice cream?)

Cresting the last bluff before our final descent; That's the bay of Olu Deniz below, followed by a shot of the resorts behind the beach. An absolutely stunning view... can even see Greek Islands -including Rhodes - in the distance. Looking back at the pictures, it still feels like I was walking thru a dream....

Sore feet, tired, hungry, and happy... we made it!
